Courses & Workshops

We offer a variety of courses and workshops as part of the IIMA. Our 2024 Events are as follows;

Sun, Sea and Sky – Choral workshops & concert

The Choral Director will be Hilary Campbell 

Accompanists will be Richard Harker and Krystal Tunnicliffe

This course will be directed by award-winning choral specialist Hilary Campbell. During the week, participants will immerse themselves in a varied programme of choral repertoire. Sessions will focus on aspects of vocal technique, ensemble skills, performance, colour and interpretation, with some lighter music thrown in for good measure, and will begin with a physical and vocal warm up each morning.

The cost of the workshop  will be €160.

Masterclass & Concerts – with Nelly Miricioiu

Issigeac International Music Academy is delighted to open applications for our 2024 Masterclass with renowned international soprano, Nelly Miricioiu.

Following a successful meeting in 2023, IIMA has joined forces with Ms Miricioiu to provide a week of masterclasses for up to twelve singers between 21st – 26th April 2024.

Singers who wish to apply will be required to complete the online form and submit their CV and a recent recording.

The Masterclass schedule for the week is as follows

Monday April 22 | 2:30pm – 5.30pm masterclass / 6.30pm – 8pm Recital & Reception Ishani
Tuesday April 23 | 2:00pm -5:00pm & 6:00pm – 9:pm masterclasses
Wednesday April 24 | 1:30pm – 3:30pm masterclass / 6:00pm Evening party
Thursday April 25 | Rehearsal for Choir Concert in the church 4.30pm – 7pm / Concert 8pm
Friday April 26 Gala soloists rehearsal 4pm – 6pm / Concert 8pm

The cost of the course will be €750.

This includes:

  • daily masterclasses with Nelly Miricioiu
  • participation in two public concerts
  • accommodation

Singers will be responsible for their own travel to and from Issigeac. Those who wish to fly should consider flights to Bergerac airport. Travel costs are NOT included in the course fee.

The deadline for applications is December 31st 2023.

Successful applicants will be required to be pay a non-refundable deposit of €100 upon accepting the place, with the remaining amount to be paid in full by March 1st 2024.

Cancellation policy : Once payment has been made in full, fees will be non refundable unless an extenuating circumstance is present and discussed.

Strings Course – with the Dante Quartet

18th June – 22nd June 2024

The Dante Quartet is one of the UK”s finest ensembles. Founded in 1995, they have recorded for Hyperion, Signum, Toccata and Naxos, and have been honoured with both BBC Music Magazine and Royal Philharmonic Society Awards. The Quartet has played throughout Europe, Japan and South Africa in October 2023.

Tuesday June 18
12-1.30 lunch – 1.30-3.30 side by side string ensemble, 3.30-4 tea – 4-6 quartets rehearse – Evening off

Wednesday June 19
10-12 Quartets rehearsal, 12-1.30 lunch provided, 1.30-3 quartet coaching
3-3.30 tea break, 3.30-5 open rehearsal with the Dante, 8pm concert

Thursday June 20
10-11.30 quartets rehearsal, 11.30-1 Quartet coaching
Ishani & Helen rehearsal in the barn at le Suquet, 1pm -2.30 lunch
2.30-4 side by side, 4pm tea, 5-6.30 quartet coaching
Concert 8pm – Ishani and Helen at Maison des Services, Issigeac

Friday 21
10-12 quartet practice / private lesson, Lunch 12.30 -2, 2-4 quartet coaching / private lesson
4pm tea, 4.30-6 side by side, 6pm wine tasting

Saturday 22
10.30-12.30 Quartets rehearse, 12.30 -2 lunch, 2-3 informal concert
8pm quartet concert at Maison des Services, Issigeac

The cost of the course will be €700.

Itinerary & Travel

As well as providing a rewarding musical experience, we aim to give participants the opportunity to enjoy a truly memorable holiday. We will be able to recommend many local visitor attractions and are happy to arrange personal wine tasting to local vineyards.

Participants are required to book their own travel and accommodation.

Special rates for accommodation will be available at Manoir du Suquet where the strings course is being held.

Alternatively we recommend checking on Airbnb, FrenchConnections and  VRBO for self catering accommodation and Booking.com and  for hotels and guest houses.

Nearest airports are Bergerac(15mins), Bordeaux (1.5hrs) and Toulouse (2.5hrs)

Driving from Caen / Le Havre is 7hrs and from Calais is 8.5hrs
